The two-year-old girl, who goes by the nickname Niu Niu, fell from her family’s apartment window in Zhejiang province on July 2nd.
Today, Niu Niu she opened her eyes for the first time since the fall and called out to her parents.
“Her eyes opened slightly this morning, and she called out to her mom and dad when they entered the ward,” Dr. Zhang Chenmei of Zhejiang Provincial Children’s Hospital told reporters.
She had been in critical condition with serious internal injuries when she was taken to hospital.
The doctor said that her heartbeat, blood pressure and pulse were now normal, and “we can assume she’s out of danger.”
Niu Niu survived the fall thanks to 31-year-old mother, Wu Juping, who ran to catch her and kept her from hitting the ground.
