Usually when people do a 10K run, you see them struggling, looking as though they’re walking on hot coals with every step, hoping they don’t collapse.
Not Zeddie Little.
Little, 25, was participating in the Cooper River Bridge 10k run, which was held on March 31 in Charleston, South Carolina.
Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) systems analyst Will King snapped a random photo of him and uploaded it to his Flickr account.
Just like that, a meme was born.
“One of my friends commented on the picture and said something along the lines of ‘I dub this Ridiculously Photogenic Guy,’” King said. “I thought it was a pretty cool comment, so I posted it on Reddit. For some reason it just took off from there.”
By Wednesday afternoon, the picture had accumulated over 1.25 million hits on Flickr alone.
“Everybody was running and he was just smiling at the camera. He wasn’t struggling or anything,” Jessica Crouch, the friend who came up with the “Ridiculously Photogenic Guy” title, told the Post and Courier. “It’s unusual. His hair was perfect and he had the perfect smile. It just struck me as being really out of place.”
In typical meme fashion, internet users are slapping all kinds of amusing text on Little’s photo.
“Gets Arrested, Mugshot Submitted to Glamour Magazine,” one said.
“Used For Stock Photo in Picture Frames, No One Replaces It,” another one said.
Even Ridiculously Photogenic Guy’s dad approves of his son’s 15 minutes of fame.
“Oh, I’m excited for him,” Jack Little told the Charleston City Paper. “Yeah, I mean he’s always been very quiet and very conscientious and never wanted any attention, and I think he’s very much deserving of it.”
