Well, now I’ve heard everything. Prince Frederic von Anhalt wants his wife, 94-year-old Zsa Zsa Gabor, to be a mother again using a combination of artificial insemination, an egg donor, and a surrogate mother, according to CNN.
“I’ve gone through the initial steps of donor matching and blood work and next week the donation process will begin,” von Anhalt says.
Not surprisingly, Gabor’s only child, Francesca Hilton, was shocked upon hearing the news.
“That’s just weird,” Hilton said.
Von Anhalt, 67, says he’s been working with Dr. Mark Surry of the Southern California Reproductive Center in Beverly Hills.
Is this really a good idea? Within the past year, Zsa Zsa has had hip replacement surgery, one of her legs has been amputated, and she’s been unable to walk since she was in a car accident back in 2002.
“I’m a retired guy,” von Anhalt says. “I can take care of it.”
“It.” What a loving sentiment.
It’s said that Gabor herself wants someone to carry on the family name as neither of her two sisters left an heir and Francesca, 64, doesn’t use the family name.
Constance Francesca Gabor Hilton is Gabor’s only child, whom she had while she was married to Conrad Hilton (yes the guy portrayed in AMC’s Mad Men).
The prince is Gabor’s ninth husband.
“In life you need something to live for,” he said. “If my wife passes away before me, I have nothing to live for.”
If? She’s 94 and he’s 67…I’d say that makes it more of a “when” than an “if”. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose, but this sounds pretty nuts to me.
