I smell a lawsuit brewing. A woman from Ohio was accidentally implanted with the wrong embryo and will need to give up the baby after delivery.

Sean and Carolyn Savage already have 3 kids, but they wanted to try and have one more. For medical reasons, they opted to go with IVF, or in-vitro fertilization.

Twelve weeks into the pregnancy, however, they received some shocking news. Carolyn had somehow been implanted with an embryo that belonged to another couple!

Carolyn recalls what it was like when she learned of the error: "I was upstairs in the bedroom and he came through the door and said 'I have really bad news' and I kind of sat up and he said, 'You are pregnant but they transferred the wrong embryos.'

"I was actually yelling at him, 'You are joking, you are joking' and he kept shaking his head. He was white as a sheet."

The couple opted not to terminate the pregnancy but decided instead to have the baby and turn it over to the actual parents once it was born.

They met with the genetic mother and father a couple of weeks later and Carolyn requested only that she have a few moments after the birth to hold the child and say goodbye.

"We are trying to mentally frame it in a positive way and look at is as a gift for this family that 8-months ago we did not know. I think that is the only way we will get through it."

Due to a medical condition, this is the final baby that Carolyn can carry. The couple is now considering "carriers" who could be implanted with their embryos.

The Savages' lawyers, meanwhile, are ensuring that the fertility clinic "will accept full responsibility for the consequences of their misconduct."

Do you foresee some sort of settlement in their future? I would say it's a safe bet.
