I am baffled as to what else it could be, though. If it is not of human origin, what is it? An alien space craft having engine trouble? A vehicle initiating its warp drive into hyperspace? An inter-dimensional gateway created by some natural event? I have no idea, of course. It was eerie as can be, no matter what caused it.
