Fail Nation: A Visual Romp Through the World of Epic Fails.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt recently did an interview with Michael Arrington over at TechCrunch.

This should really be an eye-opener, I thought.  We'll really get some interesting insights from the TOP DOG over at the world's number ONE internet search company.

Then I read the following quote from Schmidt and I quickly realized that the gates are down but the train's not coming.

"Larry (Page) and Sergey (Brin) and I had a strategy meeting five years ago…I said, OK, well, let’s write down our strategy. We never really had a strategy. And so Sergey basically got up and said, our job is to do things that matter to the world at scale and it should just boom, boom, boom like that. And that became our strategy. And then Larry and I wrote down in detail some of the ideas that happened from that. But it’s not just a search company or not just an advertising company. It doesn’t even have to be just an Internet company, although obviously, the Internet is key."

Is it just me, or does this sound like the answer we got from Miss South Carolina?

I feel kind of like I opened my Christmas present and all I got was a pair of socks.  I'm not sure what I was hoping for, but this wasn't it.

In retrospect, I guess that I shouldn't expect too much from the guy who thought Twitter was a form of e-mail.  I hope the rest of the interview gets better.
