Back in November, we learned that the Twitter phenomenon known as “Shit My Dad Says” was heading to television.
Now we know who will play the dad in the TV version of the popular meme as well, and it’s none other than William Shatner.
The entire project is based on a Twitter account which has amassed over 1 million followers since its launch back in August. It has also made its creator, Justin Halpern, somewhat of an internet celebrity.
The pilot, executive produced by Will & Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, was originally booked by CBS in November.
Halpern co-wrote the script with Patrick Schumacker. Halpern and Schumacker will be co-executive producers on the Warner Bros. TV-produced effort, whose title is (understandably) expected to change once it goes to prime time.
Halpern, 29, had moved back in with his parents in San Diego, and on August 3 he launched “Shit My Dad Says”, a Twitter feed featuring colorful, and often profanity-laced, comments spouted off by his 73-year-old father during their daily conversations.
