googleblog Why Is There a Quality Score?Granted, this is kind of like a kid asking, "Why is the sky blue?".  This question, however, does deserve an answer.

There has been a flurry of activity over on the Official Google Blog today.  The latest post goes into quite a bit of detail as to the reasoning behind Quality Score and what affects it.

The answer is simple.  Search engines want to SELL ads "by the impression" but advertisers usually want to BUY ads "by the click".

So what levels the playing field?  You guessed it...quality score.

Maybe the answer to beating the quality score game is to just pay per impression.  That would throw most of today's PPC coaching programs for a loop, wouldn't it?  Still, that's what the search engines want anyway.

Anyway, Google gives us a great explanation.  Read the full Google Blog post here.

P.S. - If you're struggling to make money with pay-per-click advertising, be sure to check out PPC Classroom 2.0 and PPC-Coach.  These are two coaching programs that won't steer you wrong!
