Whitney Houston wasn’t ready.

The often-troubled diva had to cut short her much-anticipated comeback performance on Good Morning America on Tuesday after the singer lost her voice.

Houston managed to get through only three songs from her new CD I Look to You before apologizing to the fans for not being able to sing.

“I’m so sorry. I did ‘Oprah.’ I’ve been talking for so long. … I talked so much, my voice,” Houston said.

“I shouldn’t be talking. I should be singing,” she said before performing her final number, I’m Every Woman.

Dedicated fanatics got in line as early as 10pm EDT on Monday.  Some were clearly upset, however, by the brief set.

“I expected it to be longer. She couldn’t sing. She was really damaged,” said Joao Andrade, 28, of North Bergen, New Jersey. “I’m a little disappointed. I think she was brave to come out with no voice.”

The fans were clearly in support of Whitney Houston, whose drug problems and rocky marriage to Bobby Brown have taken a toll on her musical career over the past decade.

When Houston arrived on stage, the crowd went ballistic.  “We missed you Whitney!” one yelled.

She missed many of the high notes she has become famous for, but she eked through three tracks from her new CD I Look To You and got emotional during its title song.

Houston screeched to a halt after those three songs, then apologized before wrapping up her set, which was originally slated to be much longer.
