The annual White House Easter Egg Roll 2009 will be held on April 13, and this year for the first time, you can get tickets online.

You can get tickets online for the White House Easter Egg Roll 2009 beginning Thursday, March 26.  Previously, the only way to get tickets was by waiting in a huge line at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C. the weekend before the event.

The White House Easter Egg Roll dates back to 1878 and is an event designed to encourage children and their families to come outdoors and celebrate the start of the spring season. This year’s theme, ‘Let’s go play’, encourages America’s youth to lead healthy and active lives. The White House will open the South Lawn to children age ten and under, along with their families, to enjoy sports, cooking classes, live musical performances, storytelling and, of course, the traditional Easter egg roll. Please come dressed to be active and participate in all of the events.

The White House won’t say exactly how many tickets they’re making available.  They advise checking the website throughout the day.

Each person will only be able to get six tickets. The White House Easter Egg Roll 2009 is open to children 10 and under along with a maximum of two adults.

You can get tickets at www.whitehouse.gov/eastereggroll.
