TV Shows Cancelled 2011There’s been a lot of carnage in the world of network TV over the last few days, with lots of shows getting the axe.

Sadly, a few of my favorites were cancelled, including V, The Event, and Brothers & Sisters.

Rumors had been swirling about Brothers & Sisters for weeks, although many seemed to think ABC wold bring the show back with an abbreviated season in the fall.  Alas, it was not to be as the show has been given the boot.

I had high hopes for V, and while it was interesting, it never really seemed to come together as well as I would have hoped.  I guess others picked up on this too, as the ratings continued to sag into its second season.  Even the returns of the original V‘s Jane Badler and Marc Singer couldn’t save the struggling sci-fi series.

The real shocker for me was The Event.  While the show got off to a rather confusing and disjointed start, it had really picked up steam in recent weeks and it quickly became my favorite show on TV.

It was like LOST, 24, and V all rolled into one…not to mention the fact that Taylor Cole is the hottest woman on TV right now.

My wife was pretty disappointed about Off the Map as well, but at least she’s still got Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice to watch.

On the bright side, it looks like we’ll all have a lot more free time now, as I don’t see anything in the networks’ lineups of new shows that promises to be as compelling as what they’ve killed off.

Here’s the complete list of cancellations.
