Here is an interesting solution to that nasty Facebook problem we discussed a few weeks ago.
Legacy Locker is a new online service that was announced on Tuesday. The service will let you securely store all your usernames, passwords and other info (social networking profiles, Gmail accounts, Paypal info, etc.) in one, secure place. It then passes that information along to your beneficiaries in the event of your untimely demise.
Jeremy Toeman, co-founder of Legacy Locker, says this kind of service is much easier than trying to wrestle the information out of the social-networking sites themselves as a family member of the deceased.
“It’s the online equivalent of a safety deposit box,” Toeman says.
Upon the death of a Legacy Locker member, family members can simply call or email Legacy Locker and supply the death certificate, along with other verification criteria.
Once that has been done, Legacy Locker sends the info onto the designated beneficiaries of the deceased.
The service will primarily be marketed to estate planners.
