When Melissa Neace heard that the hate group known as the Westboro Baptist Church was planning a protest at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state, she came up with a fabulous idea.
She started spreading the word on Facebook and organized a zombie counter-protest.
“We wanted to turn something negative around, into something people could laugh at and poke fun at,” Neace told theĀ News Tribune. “It was the easiest way to divert attention from something so hateful.”
In the end, about 300 “zombies” showed up, far outnumbering the less-than-ten protesters from the WBC.
