Today will be remembered as the day that Mickey Mouse went silent.
Wayne Allwine, the voice of Mickey Mouse for over thirty years, has died. The Walt Disney Company says that Allwine died on Monday as a result of complications from diabetes. He was 62.
On a romantic note, his wife of 20 years, Russi Taylor (who happens to be the voice Minnie Mouse), was at his side when he passed away.
Wayne Allwine had been the voice behind Mickey Mouse since 1977.
Side note: Allwine won an Emmy Award in 1986 for his sound editing on the NBC series “Amazing Stories.”
