Oops.
President Obama working without a teleprompter is always a recipe for disaster. I’m not sure why his handlers haven’t figured that one out yet.
His latest flub came last night on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. This, by the way, was the first time a serving President has ever been on the show.
The interview went pretty well overall, until Leno asked the President about his bowling skills.
THE PRESIDENT: I bowled a 129. (Laughter and applause.)
Q No, that’s very good. Yes. That’s very good, Mr. President.
THE PRESIDENT: It’s like — it was like Special Olympics, or something. (Laughter.)
Q No, that’s very good.
THE PRESIDENT: No, listen, I’m making progress on the bowling, yes.
Whoops.
The White House had issued a statement apologizing for the comment even before the interview went to air. No comment yet from disability groups, but I’m sure it won’t be long.
