John Madden announced his retirement from the football booth on Thursday. Madden's witty, common-man demeanor made him one of football's most popular broadcasters of all time.
The Hall of Famer covered "Sunday Night Football" games on NBC for the last three years. His last telecast was the Super Bowl two months ago.
Cris Collinsworth will take the place of John Madden as the NBC football analyst. NBC exec Dick Ebersol announced Collinsworth's appointment during a conference call earlier today.
