The vernal equinox 2009 happens about 44 minutes from right now – ushering in the spring season – at 7:44am EDT.
The vernal equinox represents the exact moment the sun passes directly over the equator, making night and day equally as long.
When the equinox occurs, BOOM, spring is here. I don’t know about you, but I, for one, am looking forward to the longer days.
Several big cities are marking the occasion with festivals and celebrations either today or over the weekend. Check your local media outlets to find the specifics for your area.
