TNA Wrestling made its boldest move to date by taking on WWE Monday Night Raw head-on, and TNA won the contest hands-down.

While Raw tried to beef up the ante by having Bret Hart do a “guest host” stint on the show, TNA was the clear winner in this particular battle.

WWE was very much business as usual.  The only noticeable difference was a kissy-kissy make up session between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels concerning the infamous Montreal Screw Job back in 1997.

The two shook hands, embraced and put the past behind them.

WWE also teased at a burying of the hatchet between Vince McMahon and Hart, only to go for a swerve by having McMahon predictably turn on Hart by kicking him in the gut, setting up for what’s bound to be a WrestleMania showdown.

The rest of the show consisted of the ever-bland Randy Orton segment and the no-longer-funny Degeneration X bits with Hornswoggle.

TNA on the other hand debuted Hulk Hogan, who now seems to be calling the shots in the organization, along with Eric Bischoff.

Other surprising faces to appear on TNA included Ric Flair, Jeff Hardy, Val Venis, Scott Hall, Sean Waltman, Orlando Jordan, Shannon Moore, and the Nasty Boys.  Wow.

We also got to see some fantastic TNA Knockouts action with both the Knockouts Title and the Knockouts Tag Team Titles changing hands.

The highlight of the night, however, was an awesome, pay-per-view caliber match between current TNA World Champion A.J. Styles and challenger Kurt Angle.

The match saw move after move and finisher after finisher executed time and time again.  At several points during the match, the always gung-ho TNA crowd chanted, “This is awesome!”

This was truly a match of epic proportions.  Styles wound up retaining the title, but both competitors wrestled their hearts out and put on a fine exhibition for the viewing audience.

WWE would now seem to be the underdog of the pro wrestling world.
