The USS John McCain is preparing to intercept a North Korean ship that is thought to be carrying missiles.
The military has been tracking the North Korean vessel ever since it left port on Wednesday. It is thought to be headed toward Singapore.
The USS John McCain, a naval destroyer vessel, will intercept the ship, “Kang Nam,” as soon as it leaves North Korean waters off the coast of China. The ship is thought to be carrying weapons that are in direct violation of UN Resolution 1874, which also put sanctions in place against Pyongyang on Friday.
According to a senior defense officials, the order has not yet been given to confront the vessel, but the US destroyer is moving into position.
