Twitter has just introduced much more informative (and stylish) e-mail notifications whenever someone follows you or sends you a direct message.
As opposed to getting a message with just plain old text, you now get an HTML e-mail featuring the Twitter logo and a nice turquoise background.
Not only that, but whenever someone follows your tweets, you now get an e-mail showing your follower's picture, how many updates they have posted, and how many people they are following.
This should save you loads of time in trying to decide whom you should "follow back", as now you can see all of the pertinent data on that user without having to log in to Twitter.
Why Twitter didn't do this sooner I don't know. All that matters is that it's here, and it's very useful.
