The U.S. Army may be concerned that Twitter is a terrorist threat, but lately, the Web 2.0 service has been a pretty reliable source for breaking news.
There were several first-hand accounts of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India before any of the mainstream news outlets could even get their pants on.
As TechCrunch states in a post this morning, "It’s not just the speed of early reports either. Twitter also serves up a constant stream of updates as situations progress...Sure, lots of Twitter messages are flat out wrong and can spread disinformation....but post above, other people tend to immediately correct those errors. Bad information is quickly drowned out by good information."
Web 2.0 is changing the world, like it or not.
