Paul Chambers was upset. He had decided to go on vacation in Ireland, only to be put off when Robin Hood airport in his home town of Doncaster, U.K. was closed due to a winter snowstorm.
Chambers was so upset, he took to Twitter and posted the following tweet to his followers:
“Robin Hood airport is closed. You’ve got a week and a bit to get your shit together, otherwise I’m blowing the airport sky high!!”
Who else thinks this was a bad idea? Good for you.
About a week after posting the offending tweet, Chambers was visited by local police, who questioned him for seven hours.
The police then explained to Chambers that his tweet wasn’t funny. Then they arrested him.
He is currently out on bail until February 11.
The police have also taken away his laptop, his home computer, and even his iPhone. Oh yes, and he has also been suspended from his job as a finance supervisor and banned from Robin Hood airport for life.
“I would never have thought, in a thousand years, that any of this would have happened because of a Twitter post,” said Chambers, 26. “I’m the most mild-mannered guy you could imagine.”
Mild-mannered, that is, until it snows. Then watch out.
