Eric De La Cruz is a huge Nine Inch Nails fan who has been denied a heart transplant because of the lack of transplant centers in Nevada. A campaign was started to raise donations for him.
Thanks to Trent Reznor...and Twitter...over $850,000 has been raised so far, and $1 million is probably not far behind.
The campaign has been backed by both Nine Inch Nails and Jane’s Addiction, who have each set up a site for donations to help De La Cruz. They also hope to raise awareness about the urgent need for transplant centers in various parts of the country.
Fans that give money to the campaign will get the following:
- A $300 donation will get you access to a sound-check, plus a meeting with a band
- $1,000 dollars will get you a backstage pass and a dinner with the band PLUS a special on-stage spot on the show
- A $1,200 donation will get you two tickets and a VIP pass
UPDATE: The reponse has been so incredible, the band has stopped issuing VIP packages for the North American tour, however, larger donations will warrant even more perks, including a signed Tony Hawk skateboard plus a rare NIN CD signed by Trent Reznor himself.
Trent Reznor mostly used his Twitter account to promote the cause. He and his 571,839 followers have really come through so far!
