With word of the “Transformers” franchise getting a new leading man, a fake movie trailer for “Transformers 4: Rise of Galvatron” is taking the web by storm, with many users thinking it’s real.
Director Michael Bay confirmed today that 41-year-old Mark Wahlberg will replace 26-year-old Shia LaBeouf as the leading man for the upcoming fourth movie in the franchise.
Bay wrote on his website, “Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on ‘Pain and Gain’ and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy.”
Bay acknowledged that the internet had a hand in helping him decide on a replacement for LaBeouf.
“Let’s say that…internet chatter gave me some ideas…so I’m here to say thanks internet chatter.”
Meanwhile, the fake “Transformers 4: Rise of Galvatron” seems to have been on the web since last year, but just recently went viral thanks to all the buzz surrounding the new film.
The trailer contains clips from no less than four other action/sci-fi flicks.
