In a bizarre turn of events, Toys.com was sold earlier this month for $1.25 million, THEN that sale was halted by the bankruptcy court.
Now the domain name has been RE-auctioned and this time, ToysRUs.com won said auction by paying a whopping $5.1 million for the domain name.
ToysRus really needed to win the auction, for obvious reasons. All of the other bidders except ToysRUs and domain name holding company National A-1, which owns such domain names as free.com, boys.com, and girls.com, exited the auction at the $3 million mark.
The last $2 million in bidding was just these two entities battling back and forth - for hours.
