Violent tornadoes blew through parts of Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee today and tonight with several powerful tornadoes touching down.
As of 8 p.m. EDT, there have been over 100 reports of tornadoes, according to the Storm Prediction Center.
A mile-wide, devastating tornado hit Tuscaloosa, Alabama after 6 p.m. EDT with “complete devastation” being reported in some parts of the town. There has been at least one fatality confirmed from that tornado.
UPDATE: Over 250 people are confirmed dead after the tornado outbreak in the South.
Businesses and apartment buildings have reportedly been completely wiped off the map.
There three fatalities associated with a tornado that tore through Kemper County, Mississippi. Mobile homes were damaged and/or destroyed with several trees down in the area, preventing emergency workers from reaching their destinations.
One powerful tornado may have struck the Cullman Regional Medical Center in northern Alabama earlier today.
