deepwater horizon fire

It’s time for BP to move in for the kill, but will it be successful?

The oil giant is preparing to try and “choke” the oil gusher at the bottom of the sea by shooting drilling mud and cement into the mess, a procedure dubbed a “top kill”.  This has been done successfully above ground in the past, but has never been attempted this deep underwater.

The catch?  If it isn’t done properly, it could worsen the leak.

The situation is critical for BP as politicians have begun to lose patience with the company over its as-yet-unsuccessful attempts to stop the leak that began over a month ago after the drilling rig Deepwater Horizon exploded.
