December 1, 2009 is World AIDS Day across the globe.  Many of the hottest spots on the internet taken special steps to raise AIDS awareness.

Google, Facebook, and Twitter have all added special features to commemorate the day.

Google has placed a red AIDS ribbon below the search bar on its homepage.  When clicked upon, the ribbon directs you to a list of resources where people can “learn”, “act”, and “give” to help and raise AIDS awareness.

Twitter has also turned red and placed a special banner on its homepage that reads:

1 DEC is World AIDS day. Help turn Twitter (RED)™. Follow @JoinRED to find out how.

Facebook is also getting in on the act.  Its “JoinRED” initiative encourages users “share” a video and fact about AIDS as well as to “show” their support by uploading a (RED) profile picture to their Facebook account.
