When I first saw the headline that read “Tiger Woods Overdose,” I thought it was perhaps referring to the intense amount of media coverage that this story has been getting lately. As it turns out, the story is a bit more literal.
Health Central Hospital staff now confirm that Tiger Woods was admitted when he crashed his SUV the day after Thanksgiving because of an apparent overdose. The official admissions chart reads “OD” and mentions that he was having difficulty breathing.

Once Woods arrived, the fifth floor of the hospital was put into “lockdown mode.” He was admitted under an alias, William Smith and his wife, Elin Nordegren, was with him.
At the accident scene, Nordegren had given paramedics two bottles of prescription medication, one contained Ambien, the other contained Vicodin.
Tiger drifted in and out of consciousness and was even falling asleep at the scene. Doctors needed to use a breathing tube to help his respiration.
A few hours later, hospital officials changed Woods’ alias to another one because they were afraid that the media would find out he had been admitted.
Tiger Woods is under an intense amount of media scrutiny as allegations continue to surface that he had extramarital affairs with as many as ten different women.

On a related note, Tiger Woods’ mother-in-law, Barbro Holmberg, was released from the same hospital in good condition this afternoon, according to a representative from the hospital.
The rep said that Holmberg, who had been admitted with “stomach discomfort,” left the hospital in a wheelchair, as does every patient who leaves the hospital.
She is now resting at one of Woods’ homes and is “feeling much better.”
