Box.net is trying to, well, think outside the box.

As more corporations begin to utilize online storage, both for the sake of convenience and for ease of collaboration, Box.net has begun to take notice.

Today Box.net, the popular file storage service, is announcing some new features to try and capture these corporate prospects.

For starters, it is adding a few social features to the site, adding profile pages for each individual, which should give companies a nice overview of current projects, activity on Box, edited files, comments, and even contact info.

Bookmarks and discussions have also been added to team work spaces. In a nutshell, discussions are akin to comment threads and allow users in the same work space to collaborate more easily.

Bookmarks will allow users to add and save links for sharing with fellow team members, making it simple for businesses to keep information in one centralized location.

VP of Marketing, Jen Grant, says “more than 30,000 businesses are using Box for content management, with a sweet spot around 500 person companies.”

Box users can choose their scaled-down free plan, if they so choose, but the business package will cost $15 per month, per person.
