There's no place like Rome...at least as far as Google is concerned. Today, they announced that they have unveiled the Rome Reborn Project, where users from Rome itself to Calcutta can now go back to the past and visit Ancient Rome as it appeared 1,688 years ago, when it was ruled by Emperor Constantine.
The project includes more than 6,700 structures from Ancient Rome, rebuilt in three dimensions. This astonishing feat just goes to show how technology can be of great use in learning about history and past cultures. Ancient Rome 3D is a great opportunity to rediscover the importance of Ancient Roman culture, which is at the base of the Italian, European and, more generally, Western identities.
