trololo

UPDATE: Be sure to check out the new Trololo sounds on our Meme Soundboard.

I can’t explain the effect that this video has on me.

For some reason, the sight of this Russian guy singing in joyful, unintelligible syllables makes me want to gouge my eyes out with a rusty spoon.

On some sites, this has been referred to as “Trololo”, on others, it’s been called “This Is What You See Right Before You Die“.  What’s worse is that he seems to be lip-syncing!

Prediction: This video will replace the Rick Roll by the end of 2012.

If any of our readers speak Russian, could you please translate for us?

Video below. Make sure you have some Ambien on hand because you’ll need it after seeing this:

UPDATE: His name is Eduard Khil, a Soviet singer, and the song was composed by Arkadiy Ilyich Ostrovskiy. The lyrics were considered “anti-soviet” so they had to be removed.  This is apparently a pretty popular tune.  Here is a version from 1967: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHf9BJdgdBoand here is the Trololo Nightmare and a version of Trololo that’s even scarier.

UPDATE 2: Now you can really get your fill at http://www.trololololololololololo.com/

UPDATE 3: Eduard Khil wants your help.
