In one year, the average American consumes 45 pounds of sugar – enough to fill a wheelbarrow.
Most of this is sugar we drink, and excess sugar intake is a driving force behind the obesity epidemic.
Although soda gets most of the blame, the fastest-growing marketing sector for beverage companies is so-called “fruit drinks”.
To make matters worse, parents and children are these companies’ new target markets.
