A new study shows that 1 in 4 people in the U.S. text while driving.

The survey was done by Vlingo. There were 4,800 participants.

Only a few states currently ban texting while driving, including Washington state and New Jersey (and soon to be Maryland).

So what’s the big deal?  Really, I can text and drive…no problem at all.

Not only that, but with the dawn of the iPhone, I can check e-mail, get sports scores, try to identify that song on the radio with Shazam, hell, I even do the New York Times crossword puzzle while I’m driving…AND I use the 1-Across iPhone app to help me out when I get stuck…all while driving.

It really helps to pass the time.

I mean, really, otherwise I’m just staring at those boring yellow lines on the road, or the taillights on that moron’s car in front of me.  Yes, YOU buddy, why don’t get off the phone while you’re driving?  That’s distracting!

Me?  No, I’m not on the phone, idiot.  I’m just t-e-x-t-i-n-g.  Sheesh.  Some people have no common sense.

Oh my God!  The White Sox lost 20-1?  I bet I can get a video clip from that game on this thing.  That’s got to be better than sitting behind this guy and his stupid kid making faces at me out the back window.
