Teacup PigsJane Croft breeds pigs…not just any pigs, but teacup pigs.  Teacup pigs are little piglets that fit right into the palm of your hand, and they’re sweeping Brits off their feet.

Croft appeared on television this morning with TODAY’s Meredith Vieira and Ann Curry.

As you may have guessed, their name comes from their size. At birth, teacup pigs weigh only about 9 oz. and are the size of a teacup. At full growth (usually around age 2), they reach 12 to 16 inches and weigh only 65 pounds.

“It’s about the size of a small spaniel,” Croft said. “They make fantastic pets. They’re really clean. They’re highly intelligent and just love to be loved. They give so much back to you.”

Teacup pigs have a projected lifespan of about 15-20 years and are very low maintenance pets, requiring about the same daily care as a pet dog. Teacup pigs are popular city pets and their tiny size is perfect for apartment living. They can even be litter-box trained in a matter of days.
