Barack Obama 20120517Here’s a video that will literally blow your mind.

A high school teacher in North Carolina has been caught on video telling a student that he could be arrested for criticizing President Obama.

The teacher has not yet been identified, but the incident reportedly took place at North Rowan High School.

“Do you realize that people were arrested for saying things bad about Bush?” the teacher asks the student toward the end of the video below, telling the student, “you are not supposed to slander the president.”

The student replies that you can’t be arrested “unless you threaten the president.”

The argument began when the class started a discussion of the recent news reports indicating that Mitt Romney bullied a fellow student while he was in high school.

Romney allegedly cut off another student’s hair in the incident.

“Didn’t Obama bully somebody though?” the student asks, referring to an incident Obama described in his book “Dreams From My Father.”

In the book, President Obama wrote that, as a child, he once shoved a female classmate after other students taunted them.

In the video, the teacher admits that she doesn’t know whether or not Obama bullied anyone, but the argument quickly gets out of hand as the teacher yelled at the student, telling him “there is no comparison.”

“He’s running for president,” she said of Romney. “Obama IS the president.”

The student argues that both candidates are “just men.”

“He’s just a man. Obama is no god,” the student said.

The teacher responds, saying, “Let me tell you something…you will not disrespect the president of the United States in this classroom.”

The teacher went on to say the two candidates are “not equal.”

According to media reports, the teacher is still employed at the school (UPDATE: the teacher has now been suspended).

“The Rowan-Salisbury School System expects all students and employees to be respectful in the school environment and for all teachers to maintain their professionalism in the classroom. This incident should serve as an education for all teachers to stop and reflect on their interaction with students,” the school said in a statement.

“Due to personnel and student confidentiality, we cannot discuss the matter publicly.”

This incident is absolutely disgraceful.  The teacher here is clearly uneducated and is inadvertently (or perhaps deliberately) trying to “brainwash” her students into believing that they’re not allowed to express their opinion.

“Don’t exercise your First Amendment right in my classroom, or you could be arrested,” is the general message she’s sending to her students.

With the way the world is being run today, this student should be commended.  We need to question MORE, not LESS…now more than ever.
