Unemployment Rate Drop for First Time in 15 Months

Is America’s Great Recession ending? Perhaps.
Employers eased up on layoffs last month, cutting only 247,000 jobs, the fewest in 12 months, and the unemployment rate dropped to 9.4 percent, its first downward movement in 15 months.

MySpace Laying Off 300 and Closing 4 Offices

MySpace will be laying off 300 people internationally and shutting down at least 4 offices outside the United States.
Owen Van Natta has admitted to trying to grow their European presence too quickly.  The employees affected are mainly in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, France, India, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Sweden, and Spain.

MySpace Layoffs: Almost 500 Employees Affected

MySpace has confirmed today that the company is going to “reduce staff by nearly 30 percent,” effective immediately.
Reports indicate that there is currently extra security in the MySpace corporate offices. Managers have also been given boxes to distribute to employees to pack their belongings.

Yahoo Begins New Round of Layoffs

Sources indicate that a fresh round of 700 layoffs have begun over at Yahoo.
New CEO Carol Bartz had indicated this round of layoffs was coming.  In fact, the actual number seems to be around 600 people affected.

Freddie Mac CFO David Kellerman Commits Suicide

The economic recession here in the United States has seemingly claimed another victim.  David Kellermann, 41, acting CFO (Chief Financial Officer) of Freddie Mac mortgage company, was found dead having apparently committed suicide this morning in the basement of his home in Fairfax County.
