the sunWhat if you didn’t have to fool around with messy sunscreen lotions? What if you could just take a pill and be protected from the sun’s harmful rays?

Well, get ready. Scientists now say that a sunscreen pill may only be about five years away.

Dr. Girish Munavalli says the new pill would use hormones to increase melanin, which would, in turn, block the sun’s harmful UV rays.

She says, “These types of compounds could increase their melanin in their skin, hopefully. So that will probably come to market in the U.S. before anything else, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed.”

Beware, though, there are already plenty of pills out there labeled “sunscreen pills,” but dermatologists say they’re just supplements or vitamins that don’t give you any real SPF protection.

What do you think? Would you be inclined to use a sunscreen pill, or will you stick to the more traditional lotions?
