Stupid 911: 911 Officer Berates, Hangs Up on Terrified Caller (Video)

Unlike some of our other Stupid 911 features, this call features the actual 911 operator (in this case a police officer) sporting the “stupid” tag.

A girl in Lincoln Park, Chicago called 911 in hysterics because her father was having a seizure. The girl was understandably a little worked up and dropped a couple of f-bombs on the police officer answering the 911 call.

Instead of calling for an ambulance, or even asking about the nature of the emergency, the police officer hung up on the girl…more than once. When she calls back, he calls the girl a ‘buffoon’.

It gets worse. After calling 911 three times, the girl takes matters into her own hands and drives to the local police station – to get help AND to file a complaint. When she got there, however, she was arrested for “abusing 911″, a charge that doesn’t even exist! Abusing 911? We’re not exactly talking about Chicken McNuggets here!

Fortunately, the police officer’s supervisor showed some signs of sanity when later interviewed about the incident, saying that it wasn’t the department’s finest hour.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that some form of suspension is coming for this 911 operator. Maybe he was having a bad day, or maybe his ego didn’t like the fact that some kid was dropping f-bombs on 911, but still, when lives are at stake, you’ve got to put that aside and do your job, which is to help people in need.
