StumbleUpon has just introduced Su.pr, its proprietary URL shortener. This would seem to be StumbleUpon’s answer to the DiggBar, which we blogged about back in April.
Su.pr is currently in private beta, but so far it sounds pretty interesting.
You will be able to log in to Su.pr either via a new account or via their current StumbleUpon credentials. You can then shorten a URL and post it to Twitter or Facebook if you like. You can also schedule it to go out at some point in the future.
Once people start clicking on your Su.pr link, they will see the StumbleUpon toolbar, which lets them like, dislike, stumble, favorite, or comment on your content. Similar to DiggBar, you will also be able to share the Su.pr link on Facebook, Twitter, and via email.
Each link can then be voted upon by the StumbleUpon community, and if it becomes popular, it has the potential to go viral.
Now that StumbleUpon is free from Ebay’s clutches, it will be interesting to see whether Su.pr can reignite interest in the service.
