Steve McNair Dead

Sad news from the world of pro football on this Independence Day.

Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair, whose most famous game-winning drive was the final one in the 2000 Super Bowl, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head on Saturday in a downtown Tennessee condominium. Police said a woman was also fatally shot.

McNair, 36, played thirteen NFL seasons before retiring in April of last year.  Police spokesman Don Aaron stated that officials had identified the woman, but did not release her name.  He confirmed that she was not Mechelle McNair, Steve McNair's wife.

Authorities were still investigating the shootings and that no suspects were in custody.

"I don't have any answers for you now as to what's happened, who's responsible," Aaron said.

"There are persons who were around the complex today, visitors, who have been taken to headquarters for questioning, just to see what they know, what they may have seen," he said.
