According to a research study by Junior Achievement, teenagers in the U.S. respect Steve Jobs the most. The iconic CEO may not have the world's greatest fashion sense, but his uncanny ability to create gadgets that "change people lives" has gotten him the moniker of the coolest entrepreneur.
This is the seventh year that Junior Achievement has conducted the poll of 1,000 U.S. "tweens" and teens between 12 and 17 years of age. For this year's survey, children were asked to choose their top entrepreneur from a list of celebrities who had begun their own enterprise.
Steve Jobs, the legendary founder and CEO of Apple, soared above everyone else on the list, leaving in his dust such well-known and branded celebrities like Oprah Winfrey (net worth ~$2.7 billion), Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg (net worth ~$2 billion), Tony Hawk and the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen.
Here’s an ordered list of the celebrities that our kids admire the most, sorted by the percentage of the votes received:
* Steve Jobs (Apple’s co-founder and CEO) – 35 percent
* Oprah Winfrey (media mogul)- 25 percent
* Tony Hawk (pro skateboarder) – 16 percent
* Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook’s founder and CEO) – 10 percent
* Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (actresses ) – 7 percent
