If you’ve been dying for more details on the much-rumored “Star Wars” live-action EV series, you’re in luck! The show finally has a working title: Star Wars: Underworld.
“Star Wars” producer Rick McCallum revealed the new name for the series in an interview with IGN, adding that the program is still very much still in development.
He did, however, confirm earlier speculation that the show takes place in the 20-year span between the end of “Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” and the beginning of “Episode IV: A New Hope“.
The new live-action series will focus on bounty hunters, gangs, and criminals in the darker side of the “Star Wars” universe. McCallum said producers already have 50 “incredible” one-hour scripts waiting to be filmed.
He added, “they are timeless because they take place in that 20-year period between ‘Episode III’ and ‘Episode IV’ when Luke is growing up — it’s not about Luke, but it’s about that period.”
In 2011, Lucas said that despite having at least two seasons of plat all mapped out, producers were “waiting for a different type of technology … so it’s economically feasible to shoot the shows.”
McCallum seemed to confirm that in stating, “it would be suicide for us to do this [now]. So we are going to wait three or four years.”
