UDATE: A (false) rumor is now spreading that the South Park creators have been killed.
Matt Stone and Trey Parker are at it again. This time they’ve offended the Muslims and the comedic duo have even received a gruesome threat.
RevolutionMuslim.com, which is a site that supports violence against the West, recently posted a warning to the South Park creators, saying that they could end up like Theo Van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker who was killed after depicting Muhammad on their show.
During last week’s episode of South Park, Muhammad appeared wearing a bear suit. Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee subsequently claimed that the men “outright insulted” the religious leader.
The warning included a hideous photo of Theo Van Gogh, along with the addresses of Comedy Central’s New York office and the South Park California production office.
On this week’s episode, entitled “201″, Muhammad was replaced by Santa Claus wearing a bear suit and the word “CENSORED” was placed over several parts of the episode, while every reference to Mohammad was bleeped out.
It is not yet known whether Comedy Central did this in an effort to protect Stone and Parker, or whether the pair did it themselves as a way of subtly protesting the warning they had received.
South Park “201″ is not available for viewing at SouthParkStudios.com, as is usually the case. Instead, the following message appears:
“WE APOLOGIZE THAT SOUTH PARK STUDIOS CANNOT STREAM EPISODE 201 AT THIS TIME. AFTER WE DELIVERED THE SHOW, AND PRIOR TO BROADCAST, COMEDY CENTRAL PLACED NUMEROUS ADDITIONAL AUDIO BLEEPS THROUGHOUT THE EPISODE. WE DO NOT HAVE NETWORK APPROVAL TO STREAM OUT ORIGINAL VERSION OF THE SHOW. WE WILL BRING YOU A VERSION OF 201 AS SOON AS WE CAN..”
