YouTube and Sony Pictures are said to be negotiating a possible content deal. Sources have said that the partnership could make full-length movies available on YouTube at no cost.
This would be a big change for YouTube, which up until now has only gone after short videos, now full-length feature films.
This partnership is still nothing more than a rumor, but I think it’s a fairly believable one. YouTube has been vilified by both movie and television studios. This would be the perfect chance for them to turn over a new leaf.
A host of Web video services already provide access to full-length movie and TV shows online. YouTube needs to get something like this done in order to compete.
Sony’s Crackle could also be a nice addition to YouTube.
