Check out these Unusually Stupid Celebrities.
What do you do when of the biggest names in pro soccer cheats and costs your country a shot at the World Cup? You start a Facebook group of course.
Last week, France was playing Ireland for a chance to go to the World Cup finals in South Africa. Ireland was winning.
A ball was pumped into the Irish penalty area. Thierry Henry reached out his left hand to control the ball, then crossed the ball for Willam Gallas to score and eliminate the Irish.
Henry admitted on Friday that the game should be replayed, possibly sensing that a potential revolt was at hand.
FIFA has ruled that there will be no replay, but now it must deal with one of the fastest-growing Facebook groups the world has ever seen.
Petition to have IRELAND VS FRANCE REPLAYED!!!!! already has almost 400,000 members since just last week. The media is also taking notice.
From the group:
You're on the front pages of the papers today lads, well done!!! All the authorities may have given in to FIFA, but we will keep this petition open to show 385,000+ of us are still here. We may not have got our replay, but once we hit 1/2 million people we will present this petition to FIFA and demand the introduction of video referee'ing so this does NOT happen again to another team.
Can one Facebook group make a difference? Stay tuned.
