California’s Skyline College campus is on lockdown Wednesday evening while police are searching for a suspect who shot and wounded one student.

According to Leslie Shelton, director of the school’s learning center in San Bruno, a student entered her building about 1pm PDT (4pm EDT) and was bleeding from a gunshot wound.

She says police are searching for the person responsible for the Skyline College shooting. They are now checking all cars that are leaving the school's campus.

The following emergency message has been posted on the school's website:

"Emergency Notification: We have had a shooting on campus and are now in lockdown. Please shelter in place, away from windows, with doors shut until further notice. We are sending an emergency text message to all students. Wednesday evening classes have been cancelled. "

The speed with which they have responded to this incident and alerted students is commendable. In addition to the message on the school's website, the school also sent out the following SMS text message to students:

"Active shooter at Skyline. Take safe cover immediately. Classes closed for the rest of the day."

More when we have it.
