The Skittles experiment was somewhat unique and, while it wasn't perfect, the results were phenomenal. The campaign was effective in increasing the candy’s web site traffic in a big way.
Hitwise reports a 1332% increase in the web site's visitors on March 3rd. Alexa also confirms this spike in traffic.
