search engine wars1 Shocking Drop in Google Search VolumeREMINDER: Only 2 more days until Monty’s Trick or Treat (10/31/08).  It’s going to be 100% free.

Google executives are said to be panicking in the streets this morning, after comScore revealed that their search volume share dropped a MASSIVE 0.10 percent, from 63.00 percent to a whopping 62.90 percent. Forget saving the world, they're just trying to save their business!

OK, I'm exaggerating.  Hey, Google has been at the top of the food chain for so long, we need a little excitement now and then, don't we?

Actually, the big news comes from Yahoo.  Their share of U.S. searches in September rose to 20.20 percent, up from 19.60 percent in August.  Maybe this will breathe some life into their ailing stock price.

Microsoft lost ground, according to the survey, with their search share falling to 8.5 percent from 8.9 percent.
