Shaq’s Wife Shaunie O’Neal Files for Legal Separation

Shaquille O'Neal's wife Shaunie O'Neal has flown to L.A. and filed for legal separation in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Shaunie filed the legal paperwork on Monday in Los Angeles, although the couple resides in Florida.  The petition states that Shaunie intends to file for divorce as well, citing "irreconcilable differences."

Shaunie O'Neal also reportedly took her children out of school in Florida several days ago.  They are now with her now in Los Angeles.

It seems that Shaunie chose to file in L.A. due to the fact that California seems to be somewhat generous in the area of spousal support. She is seeking spousal support as well as child support, although an amount has not yet been specified.

In the paperwork she filed, Shaunie says she has been a resident of L.A. since November 8, 2009.  Hmm.

The separation date listed is 11-9-09.  Together, Shaq and Shaunie have 4 children and she is seeking custody of all of them.

They have been married for almost 7 years.
